Prelude .......................................................... 11

"From this rainbow of color and silver and gold, sparks fly out, lightning flashes, thunder rolls. Color sparks and spits and spirals and spurts. Sparks of light fly everywhere. Stars shimmer and twinkle, bouncing, scattering stars everywhere. Sets of children, tiny stars dancing."

A swirling wind is beginning to build. Leaves blow all around me. The wind howls and spins and I can hear breaking glass, fracturing sounds. I hear sounds of rocks sliding, pushing, tearing through the earth, a crushing of bones, a cracking of stone. I feel the wind blow hard against me. I find myself lying beside a pond. I look up and nothing is familiar. Of course, there is no rock and no reflection.

A breath in and out, and the room is dark with the exception of the white candle in the center, whose light twinkles eternally. It is time to hold the red medicine of Confidence. Light the red candle. The hand of the dancing spirit lights it. The red candle is lit in honor of Confidence, the medicine that we honor, Grandmother/Grandfather, Great Spirit, Eagle Feather.

The Panther Woman looks at us with a snarl. We're scared; we stand still. We're arrogant; we march forward. We're soft and gentle; we walk with the spirit soul intact. The doll of growth, soft green moss in her hair, the Earth, beckons us to come for healing. From our sacred selves, we choose, each one of us.

The sun was shimmering around his head, which was half man and half hawk. On his bare chest he wore a breastplate of hawk bones, the feathers of the hawk. Yellow cloth was wrapped around his hips. His arms were hawk wings. He stood with great pride.

The song of the frog fills the room. Each one of us stops to listen to the night breeze underneath the old cedar. The candle lights twinkle in the Rainbow Medicine Wheel. Prayers are hung. The lighting of the green candle is brought forth. We have our Confidence, our Balance, our Creativity, and now our Growth. Each candle is lit in representation of our medicines, releasing, renewal, cleansing. These are the teachings of Growth.

The evening goes on and the teachings spiral. We share our feelings. Lessons of Arrows that are white. Lessons of Black Horse. Lessons of rushing River Horse. Lessons of Moon Owl and Tree Songs. Lessons of Raven Magic and Big Dancing Sky. It is time that we listen to the teachings of the Rainbow Warrior.

Another grand spirit stands. This one is the Sun Spirit--Sun Man. He speaks of age, and he speaks of Wisdom. He speaks of the talents that flow from the river, from the fire that burns within that speaks Truth. He joins the circle again.

I hold hands with the star, and we walk beyond, into the realm of spirit and beyond that. I pass through the plains, and the wind spirals around me. I feel a pull towards home. I am there, within this grand burgundy light. It is all burgundy around me. It looks black, deep black. There is a pulsating beat and a resonance of spirit. I feel as if everything is me, and I am everything.

Come with me now. Follow me to the Sacred Dance. Seven step forth, and seven go with me--to lessons of Clarity and Discipline, Fact and Sense. To medicines of Beauty and Power, Greatness and Strength. It is ours, as we step forth…
